This Week on Bandcamp Daily
The dark music of Rome’s DIY scene is decidedly at odds with the lavish images of the city portrayed in classic films like “La Dolce Vita.” From the outer fringes of experimental music to the sharpest edges of rock & roll, this is the sound of the underground in Rome.
BANDCAMP WEEKLY
The new Bandcamp Weekly focuses on the amazing R&S Records, which has released music by electronic heavy-hitters like James Blake, Nicolas Jaar, Model 500, LONE and more.

Chloe Watkinson
Artist: Chloe Watkinson
Title: Crystal Pistol
Label: Aporia Records
Genre: Bluesy Rock
CANCON
Chloe Watkinson has spent her entire life surrounded by the workings of “show biz.” She’s the daughter of Terry Watkinson – keyboard player of legendary Canadian rock band Max Webster,
“Crystal Pistol” is a bluesy, hard-rock anthem with surging electric guitars, tribal drumming, some well- placed group shouts, and a super-powerful vocal, urging the water-protector protestors at Standing Rock to "stand up, push back" to save Nature, and the planet. This song occupies the same sort of territory for Indigenous peoples and their allies as "Get Up, Stand Up" did for the Rastafarian community and its allies. It’ll make you want to jump and shout along.

TORONTO – Daughter of rock royalty, Toronto singer-songwriter Chloe Watkinson releases new single “Crystal Pistol” (Aporia Records) on Friday, August 17.
Chloe Watkinson has spent her entire life surrounded by the workings of “show biz.” She’s the daughter of Terry Watkinson – keyboard player of legendary Canadian rock band Max Webster, and Carla Jensen, who sang the original theme song to the famous African Lion Safari TV commercial.
Fresh on the heels of her first massively successful headlining concert at Toronto’s Opera House in January of this year, and the accompanying concert to her debut single release "A Universe," she’s set to perform another high-profile gig at the Chevrolet Indie Fridays series at Yonge-Dundas Square on Friday, July 20 and will release her new single “Crystal Pistol” on August 17.
Watkinson transcends genres, writes about real-life issues and her life as a woman in Toronto. She’s known for her edgy, passionate vocal delivery, and the new song follows that same trend.
